FAC, always a leading manufacturer of coloured porcelain, is pleased to present the red cup.

In fact, for more than half a century FAC is recognised around the world for its high-fire coloured porcelain with the unique brilliance and strength that have always been the distinctive features of the FAC professional porcelain cup.

The expertise of our technical and research staff has been channelled into finally creating a red cup that satisfies professional requirements without having to make compromises dictated by the limited colours of decals, by the use of thin or more fragile porcelain or by other procedures that do not fully meet our product’s strict specifications.

So, in our new and improved production colour range we are proud to include the “must” colour for roasting and the world of coffee: red.

 

  

Fac was set up in the immediate post-war period as a one-man craft firm by its founder, Giacinto Adolfo Canepa, who learned the basic techniques by working in the decorative ceramics factories which made the two towns of Albissola Marina and Albissola Superiore, where the production plant is still located, famous. During that period, these towns were one of the leading cultural centres for ceramic art and internationally renowned: in the decorative ceramics workshops of the area, the founding partner worked for years alongside some of the leading names of Twentieth century art, including Fontana, Lam, Jorn, Capogrossi, Sassu, Fabbri and many others. This is where the roots of Fac lie: the first Fac cups were fired in the kilns alongside major contemporary artistic works.

Production soon increased and the small craft firm was transformed into a company, then into a joint-stock company, as normally happens in the case of companies characterised by rapid development.

The decision to specialise exclusively in manufacturing cups for professional use was fundamental to this expansion and the production of decorative ceramics was permanently abandoned, with research being conducted into a mixture and a production process for manufacturing china which could withstand the stress of professional use. It was this strategic decision which allowed Fac to make a name for itself compared with the other local firms and become an industrial company, rapidly becoming the sector leader at international level.
